From Melbourne CBD
- Route 96 from Bourke Street. Get off at South Melbourne Market (Stop 127).
- Route 12 from Collins Street via Clarendon Street. Get off at York Street (Stop 127).
- Route 109 from Collins Street. Get off at Port Junction (Stop 125), then transfer to Route 96 or walk up Clarendon Street and turn right at York Street.
- Route 1 from Federation Square towards South Melbourne Beach. Get off at Park Street and Cecil Street (Stop 25) and walk north along Cecil Street. The Market is a five‑minute walk.
From St Kilda
- Route 12 from Park Street and Fitzroy Street. Get off at York Street (Stop 127).
- Route 96 from Acland Street, Upper Esplanade or Fitzroy Street. Get off at South Melbourne (Stop 127).
From Port Melbourne
- Route 109 from Station Street. Get off at Port Junction (Stop 125) and transfer to Route 96 to South Melbourne (Stop 127).
From South Melbourne Beach
- Route 1 from Victoria Avenue. Get off at Park Street and Cecil Street (Stop 25) and walk north along Cecil Street. The Market is a five‑minute walk.

Bike
The Market is well-serviced by two major bicycle routes along Cecil Street and Moray Street, which go between Melbourne CBD and Albert Park and on into St Kilda. There is bike parking at the Market with extra-long spaces for cargo bikes and bike trailers located at the end of Coventry Street.
Bus
- Route 236 from Garden City (Port Melbourne) via Bay Street and Cecil Street. Stop at South Melbourne Market / Cecil Street (Stop 24560) directly outside the Market.
- Route 234 between Port Melbourne and North Melbourne. Stop at Cecil Street & City Road (Stop 341). The Market is a five‑minute walk south along Cecil Street.

Hop-on Hop-off free Community Bus
The City of Port Phillip provides a free Community Bus service to South Melbourne Market, with no booking required.
The Community Bus runs Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) from 8.30am to 3.00pm and includes a dedicated stop at South Melbourne Market.
All Community Buses are wheelchair accessible and are ideal for visitors who may experience barriers using regular public transport or who are carrying shopping. If you need help accessing or understanding route maps and timetables, the Community Transport team is available to assist during office hours, 8.30am to 2.00pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).
