School Holidays at the Village Market

Published 5 April 2022
Giant egg painting, craft activities and making music with plants!

There is so much to see and do at the Village Market these school holidays! Our Cecil Street outdoor dining precinct will include some exciting activations especially designed for kids (and the young at heart!).

Kids can also learn to make sushi in a free cooking lesson, enjoy free face painting, take a selfie with the Easter bunny and go on the Market Easter Egg Hunt!

The Museum of Play and Arts (MoPA)

The Market are thrilled to partner with MoPA this April, a world-class museum famous for immersive exhibits and activities designed to support creativity and play-based learning.

Find the MoPA pop-up gazebo on Cecil Street from 13 - 17 April with free Easter craft activities for the kids. MoPA will have art supplies, tables and chairs for kids to join in on making Easter craft to take home plus a giant egg for painting! Kids can get messy as smocks, brushes and a wash up station will be available onsite.

MoPA believes more play and creativity will paint a brighter future

Make Music with Plants!

Playable Streets will bring their incredible musical installation, The Plants,  to the Market for shoppers to create their own musical compositions using plants from 13 - 17 April.

By touching the leaves on the plants, a micro computer is activated that triggers sounds developed by composer, Cayn Borthwick

Not only do The Plants convert carbon dioxide and water into oxygen, but your touch into music.

Playable Streets create interactive installations connecting us to our world.

Pick up a map from the Market Office in Centre Aisle (next to the lift) or download one here for the kids to go on a hunt for Easter eggs throughout the Market! The eggs will be hidden in seven of our stalls.

The program will takes kids (aka our Junior Chefs!) on a hands-on shopping experience at the Market, in search of ingredients using a Clue Card. Parents/Carers will receive a Helper Card which has all the answers to the clues as well as what stalls the ingredients are available from.
