The Only Label is an independent Melbourne-based womenswear brand, founded by designer Net, and driven by a passion for reimagining vintage fashion.

With a background in upcycling, Net blends contemporary street style with nostalgic influences. Drawing on iconic eras, from bold 60s mod to relaxed 70s bohemian and the edge of 90s grunge. each piece reflects a love of distinctive shapes, textures and detail, reinterpreted for the modern wardrobe.

Designed with versatility and comfort in mind, The Only Label creates easy-to-style pieces and relaxed silhouettes that allow for individuality and self-expression. Produced in small quantities, the collections emphasise thoughtful design, reduced waste and a more considered approach to fashion.

The Emel Store is a celebration of handmade craft, where every piece is thoughtfully created by designer and maker Emel using traditional techniques.

From delicate Anatolian needle lace jewellery and intricate seed bead designs to crocheted accessories and playful amigurumi, each item is made entirely by hand. Emel’s work draws on cultural heritage, nature and personal storytelling, resulting in pieces rich with detail and character.

Blending time-honoured craftsmanship with a contemporary feel, The Emel Store brings warmth, creativity and a truly personal touch to everything it creates.

Remedy Clothing and PALATE

Remedy Clothing is a Melbourne-based brand founded by makers Mark and Toon, built on a commitment to rethinking fashion through sustainability, quality and conscious design.

Creating apparel from 100% recycled materials including recycled cotton, polyester and linen, Remedy focuses on durable, versatile pieces designed for everyday wear. With an emphasis on comfort, longevity and thoughtful production, each garment is made in small quantities as part of a move towards a more circular, low-waste future.

Expanding this vision, their sister brand PALATE transforms discarded materials into elevated accessories. Repurposed plastics and leathers are reimagined into bold, expressive pieces that blur the line between fashion and wearable art.

Together, Remedy and PALATE bring clothing and accessories into one cohesive, considered offering where sustainability meets creativity, and every piece reflects a more mindful approach to how we make, wear and value fashion.

Luna & Soul is a Melbourne-based yoga and activewear brand founded by Raja, combining conscious design with a deep commitment to people and planet.

With over 20 years of experience in the global fashion industry, Raja created Luna & Soul as a response to the environmental and social impacts of fast fashion. Drawing on her background in product development and her practice as a yoga teacher, she designs pieces that are both purposeful and wearable, supporting movement, comfort and everyday life.

Each collection is thoughtfully made in small batches using sustainable materials, including organic cotton, plant-based dyes and eco-certified fibres. From fabric sourcing through to packaging, every detail reflects a considered, low-impact approach.

Blending functionality with intention, Luna & Soul creates versatile pieces designed to move with you, from studio to street, while encouraging a more mindful and ethical way of dressing.

Inspired by her Greek heritage and a love of travel, Freda draws on influences from across Europe to source and design distinctive jewellery and clothing. With a focus on affordability and originality, much of the collection is designed by Freda herself, offering pieces that feel both personal and unique.

Known for her natural flair in styling, Freda has a gift for helping customers find pieces that truly suit them, often with an instinctive understanding of what will make someone feel their best. Her welcoming spirit and genuine care create an experience that goes beyond shopping.

Friends from Oz

Friends from Oz (previously Timeless Pieces) is an art, craft and metal fabrication studio known for its beautifully handcrafted, bespoke creations. From jewellery and clocks to furniture, homewares, and distinctive house and garden pieces, every item is thoughtfully designed and expertly made.

Founded by partners Gosia Bernatt and Paul Davie, the studio is driven by creativity, innovation and a deep well of experience. Drawing on backgrounds in the retail gift industry and commercial metalwork, Gosia and Paul bring a unique blend of artistry and technical skill to their work - often producing one-of-a-kind pieces that feel both personal and enduring.

During the festive season, their stall becomes especially magical. Their handcrafted Christmas decorations are a true highlight - delicate, artful pieces designed to add warmth, sparkle and character to any home.

Each piece is thoughtfully crafted, with an emphasis on detail, individuality and artistry. Inspired by traditional techniques and materials, Satomi’s work captures the essence of Japanese design while reimagining it for everyday wear.

At Tomi Art, you’ll find a beautiful collection of statement accessories made from intricate Mizuhiki paper cord, alongside luxurious scarves in rich Japanese indigo hues, each piece designed to be as unique as the person wearing it.

Aron Katona believes fashion is more than something you wear for an occasion, it’s a powerful expression of individuality and self.

At his stall, Aron creates unique pieces that are fun, detailed and accessible, with many garments hand-sewn on site. From bold prints and intricate trims to playful touches of faux fur and signature sparkle, his designs are full of personality and crafted with care.

Aron’s love of statement materials, particularly shimmering fabrics, is inspired by his mother’s appreciation for all things sparkly, an influence that continues to shape his collections today. With no formal training, his work is driven purely by passion, creativity and a genuine connection to his craft, something customers instantly recognise.

Known for his personalised approach, Aron designs for people of all ages, styles and occasions, creating pieces that feel special, expressive and one-of-a-kind. He regularly showcases his collections on the runway at Melbourne fashion festivals, but it’s his day-to-day connection with customers at the Market that truly defines his brand.

Run by the talented maker Tran, this eye-catching pop-up showcases a range of pieces designed to stand out, from stylish laser cut rings, earrings and brooches to quirky accessories that bring personality to any outfit. Each item is thoughtfully created by Tran, from the first sketch through to the final hand painted details.

Many pieces can be customised to suit individual style, with options to personalise size, colour, chain and materials.

Giftfully also offers on the spot engraving across a variety of materials, alongside personalised bamboo travel mugs, laser lights and sustainable accessories that make thoughtful gifts for others or for yourself.

Akana

Akana brings together centuries of heritage craftsmanship with a modern, considered approach to footwear. Known for their handmade leather shoes, the brand draws on a tradition that spans more than 600 years, creating pieces that are as timeless as they are comfortable.

Founded by Can and Serenay, Akana is deeply rooted in a passion for artisanal design and ethical production. Inspired by Can’s upbringing among the vibrant stalls of Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar, the brand celebrates the beauty of handmade goods and the stories behind them. Today, that same spirit continues at South Melbourne Market, where their stall reflects a strong sense of community and connection.

Each pair of shoes is carefully crafted using traditional techniques, including intricate hand stitching passed down through generations. Made from premium full grain leather, the shoes are designed to mould to the wearer over time, offering exceptional comfort alongside enduring quality.

Akana embraces slow fashion principles, focusing on small batch production, transparency and long lasting design. With a wide range of colours, from classic tones to bold prints, and the option to customise from an extensive palette, each pair can be tailored to reflect personal style.

Suke McMaster and Marker Skincare bring together two creative worlds in one family run space at the Market. Siblings Suki and Mark have combined their talents to offer a thoughtful mix of design led homewares, stationery and natural skincare, all created in Melbourne.

Suki McMaster is known for her bright, expressive designs that celebrate colour, storytelling and everyday joy. Inspired by nature, travel and personal experiences, her work transforms simple items into cheerful pieces for the home. Each design begins as an original illustration, with every product carrying a sense of personality and meaning. Her aim is simple, to create pieces that bring a sense of happiness and connection into people’s lives.

Alongside Suki’s homewares and stationery sits Markee Skincare, founded by Mark and his partner Yee. Their journey began with a personal need to care for sensitive skin, leading them to explore natural alternatives and eventually create their own formulations. Today, their range of skincare is handmade in Melbourne using carefully sourced ingredients, with a focus on gentle, effective and environmentally conscious products.

Together, Suki and Mark have created a space that reflects their shared values of creativity, craftsmanship and community. As long standing Market traders, their combined stall offers not just beautifully made products, but a genuine connection to the people and stories behind them. It is a place where design, wellbeing and local creativity come together in a truly personal way.
