14 July is Bastille Day and we're celebrating early! Dust off your beret and head to South Melbourne Market where you'll find an 'abondance' of French products, cuisine, wine, and cheese to celebrate all things Français. We've also got roving musical duo, Les Baguettes who will transform you to the heart of Paris or the beautiful gardens of Versailles.

Agathé Pâtisserie are making a sensational duck confit with onion chutney on a buttery danish to mark the occasion. More French pastry delights are available daily at Agathé from croissants, madelines, cannele, flans and escargot. Plus, there's crusty baguettes and large tarts made daily.

This warming winter dish has all the flavours of France to delight your taste buds.
Hagen's Organic Butcher in the Food Hall have the best recipe for this rustic French classic and some key quality organic ingredients: Whole chickens, bacon and homemade stock.
The rest of the ingredients are available at any one of our fruit and veg traders; mushrooms, shallots, thyme, carrot, garlic and parsley along with potatoes for a mash and green beans to steam as side dishes.

Calling all cheese lovers! Head to the Market’s very own fromagerie, K-Sein, and meet Victor Persinette-Gautrez, a true cheese connoisseur. With a background working for the renowned French cheesemonger Hervé Mons, Victor is an expert in the art of affinage (cheese ageing) and the world of artisanal vs. commodity cheeses. He’s even worked at the prestigious Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse under Etienne Boissy (MOF Fromager 2007) — a true master of the craft.
