A Prestigious French Honour for Agathé Pâtisserie

Agathé has been awarded the status of Chevalière dans l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole Français, or Knight in the French Order of Agricultural Merit. Established in 1883 by Jules Méline, France’s Minister of Agriculture at the time, the award recognises exceptional contribution to agriculture, food production and related industries.
For customers of South Melbourne Market, this recognition will come as no surprise.
Located at Stall 63 in Aisle B, Agathé Pâtisserie has become one of the Market’s most loved destinations for authentic French pastries, baked fresh each Market day in an open kitchen where customers can watch the magic happen.
Led by professional pastry chef Agathé Kerr, who trained at the prestigious École de Boulangerie et Pâtisserie de Paris, the bakery brings a taste of Paris to the heart of South Melbourne. From buttery croissants and pain au chocolat to almond croissants, Kouign Amann and traditional French cakes, every item reflects Agathé’s skill, precision and deep respect for her craft.
Agathé is also known for her creativity and innovation, with a continuously changing range of pastries that includes infused croissants in flavours such as pandan, matcha and earl grey. Her now-famous green pandan croissants have gained a loyal following and become a viral favourite among Market visitors.
Alongside the croissants and pastries, customers will also find beautiful French-inspired cakes and desserts including lemon meringue tart, vanilla flan, burnt Basque cheesecake and more.
This latest honour acknowledges Agathé’s long-term excellence and contribution to French gastronomy, and we are incredibly proud to have her as part of the South Melbourne Market community.
Next time you’re at the Market, stop by Stall 63 in Aisle B to congratulate Agathé and treat yourself to something truly special.
