Make your own Tortilla Chips

A tortilla chip is a snack food made from corn tortillas, which are cut into triangles and then baked or fried.


  • Corn tortillas (each tortilla will make 6 chips)
  • About 3/4 to 1 cup extra virgin olive oil, peanut oil, canola oil, or vegetable oil (more or less depending on how many chips you are making)
  • Kosher salt (or other coarse salt), to taste


  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
  2. Brush whole tortillas with oil and cut into chips.
  3. Place on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 5 minutes.
  4. Flip tortillas and bake for 5 more minutes.
  5. Cool and store in an airtight container.

You can also fry the tortilla chips in oil or bake them in an air fryer.
