Tribute
Bert Glenister
Great people have shaped the South Melbourne Market, perhaps none more so than Bert Glenister. Whether he was selling bags or catching intruders, delivering mail or selling books, Bert has been a part of the fabric of the Market for nearly thirty years. He is now taking some well deserved time out from the Market, but he continues to be welcomed warmly by stallholders and locals alike when he drops by to say hi and join his friends for a cup of tea. As Bert decides to hang up his boots, we pay tribute to this generous and lovable character. Click here to read more.

Focus On
Cumquats
Now is the time for some exotic spring pickin’s. Mangos, tamarillos, papaya, feijoa and Cumquats. Cumquats, those exquisite little plants that produce tiny orange fruit, are also delicious to eat. The beauty of the Cumquat is more than skin deep. The name Cumquat comes from the Cantonese for "golden orange". These little orange gems are in season now until January. Eaten raw, preserved, candied, pickled, made into marmalade, or our favourite way, dipped in melted chocolate and served with coffee.
